I'm in a Rebuttal Mood Today!

According to the Cosmopolitan Magazine that I read yesterday in Cafe Demel, being sociable is a sign of being smart. Oh really? Is that so? Sorry but I beg to disagree. The article likewise said that being a modern woman of today, you have to familiarize yourself with a lot of people for you may see them as "connections" in order to succeed in the future. Again, I beg to disagree. Isn't that a sign of being opportunist instead of being smart? While it is true that being sociable or lets say being friendly to a lot of people (of all walks of life)leads to a possibility of building a myriad of connections, specially when you're establishing your business, I do not think that such "tactic" is being smart. Besides women nowadays can be as clever or shall I say more clever than men in establishing their careers and their businesses. WE don't have to depend on friends or connections. Having a good decision making skill and leadership skill will surely put us to success. Having many links and connections are just bonuses. Sorry Cosmo.. You're my favorite but this time I won't agree with you. Oooppss.. I'm not also a man-hater, correction. Let's just stick to logic.

Technical Writing: 'Love to Learn this!

Since day one that I started schooling, I already had the interest in writing any kind of compositions- poems, essays, short plays, songs, you name it. And during high school, my classmates tagged me as the "scriptwriter". Now that I am an adult ( hopefully, in the true sense of the word) and already starting to establish a career, the passion to write still ignites my soul. But I really don't know if I should be proud of this supposed to be "talent" because unfortunately, it remained a passion, not a full-pledged career. Until I learned about Technical writing from the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication. If we have talent in writing and we want to use it in a corporate world, I think we have to learn the techniques of technical writing. All corporate and public organizations produce information that has to be communicated clearly and effectively to a variety of publics both internal and external. Communicators have to ensure that their business correspondence in whatever form (i.e., letters, reports, proposals and presentations, among others) are attractive, comprehensible, and clearly stated, while remaining technically precise and accurate. Communication techniques are employed to ensure that these standards are met. For sure, as soon as I'm back in Manila, I will prioritize enrolling for the technical writing course. Who knows? I can be an executive staff of a legislator (dream on!) or a company Director..

A Thought of a Baby and a good Coffee

Hoping that my impression would not fail me to realize that this first travel outside my home land (Manila, Philippines) is as exciting as any other usual experience that I had, it seemed like I had left my thoughts in Manila. Smelling the fresh air of Vienna, I thought i smelled the breath of my seven-month old baby Agatha. Oh, how I missed my little Angel. Viewing her everyday through the webcam makes me so sick that I wanna go back home. Ooooppss.. since this travel is quite job related, I cannot afford to do so. Baby..just wait for your Mom ok? Thank God for the coffee houses which serve as second living rooms to Austrians."Schlagobers", an austrian dialect for a brewed coffee with lots of whipped cream on top, drew my soul closer to Vienna. Near my apartment is Cafe Demel from which I tasted and now indulged with my first Kaffee mit Schlagobers. I really enjoy this childish gesture of having milk moustache on my upper lip from sipping cup after cup of coffee laced with cherry brandy and lots of whipped cream. People here say that a stop in a Viennese cafe is a ritual of many and part of their daily existence. Though I'm not an austrian, dropping by the cafe will now be my defense mechanism so as not to miss my baby and my homeland.
